Aged care physiotherapy

Our aged care residents adore our physiotherapy classes

Aged care physiotherapy classes are a fantastic therapy for all residents at practically all mobility levels. With your tailored aged-care physio plan, we know you’re going to thrive.

The benefits of aged care physiotherapy services

With age comes an inevitable physical frailty, so it’s no surprise that physiotherapy is one of the more popular classes amongst our residents, thanks to its preventative and rehabilitative benefits. Our physio classes are designed to help you fortify your body and extend its capabilities (and, therefore, your physical independence) for as long as possible.

  • Improve overall strength and balance as well as fine motor skills
  • Relieve chronic pain by strengthening muscles and joints
  • Reduce the risk of falling and injury
  • Recover following accidents, injuries, illnesses and surgeries

Care based on compassion

Aged care isn’t like most other industries. There is a business aspect to it, of course, but our work has to be built on trust between us and the elderly patients and residents in our care. While you’re living under our roof, you are our absolute priority. We’ve spent nearly four decades expanding and refining our services to help you live with dignity, comfort and independence. Give us the chance, and we know we’ll earn your trust, just like we have for countless others.

Community is everything

A new environment can rattle your nerves. But there’s a strong, warm community waiting to welcome you home.

Resident-focused care

We’ll work with you, your loved ones and your existing medical specialists to deliver the best care possible.

Frequently asked questions

If you have any questions about how our aged care physiotherapy services work, we’ll be happy to put you in touch with one of our experienced health professionals.

Does Medicare cover physiotherapy for seniors in residential aged care facilities?

Yes. As a nursing home resident, you can access Medicare-funded physiotherapy services to manage your health spending.

According to the Medicare Benefits Schedule, you can access the rebate if you have a chronic condition requiring complex care.

Is aged care physiotherapy just low-stress exercise?

No. In the context of an aged care facility, our physiotherapy services are enormously beneficial not only for able-bodied residents looking to improve their mobility, but also for those who have suffered strokes or traumatic brain injuries. These events can limit your ability to complete the most elementary physical actions, like sitting, standing, walking, or even lying down without aid.

Physiotherapy can help patients with almost complete immobility strengthen their bodies, little by little, making it an extraordinarily rewarding process.

Physiotherapy for palliative care residents

Physiotherapy can be integral to maintaining quality of life during palliative care. While there does come a point at which fitness may no longer be a patient’s concern, our physiotherapists can still help them maintain fine motor skills and perform basic actions. More than that, regular physiotherapy can help mitigate chronic pain and keep the mind active and energised.

Many of our health services remain relevant in our holistic approach to palliative care. For example, our palliative patients often choose to partake in physiotherapy, speech therapy and various diversional therapies.
