Respite care costs and funding options
We believe that every respite resident deserves to feel at home during their temporary stay at Oxa. That’s why our respite care packages offer person-centred services, outstanding value, and added extras, such as 50% larger-than-average rooms, at an industry-standard price. Funding is also available depending on your eligibility. To find out more about costs, give us a call and we can discuss the options available to you.
Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP)
The DAP is a daily, rental-style fee that respite residents pay to the residential aged care facility for the duration of their stay.
Government-supported care
After undergoing an ACAT assessment, eligible individuals can access subsidised care for planned and emergency respite from the Australian government.
Financial hardship assistance
If you’re experiencing financial hardship with respite care costs exceeding your budget, you may qualify for partial or full funding from the government.
Self-funded
If you are not entitled to government funding, you may have to cover respite fees yourself, which will vary depending on your length of stay.

At Oxa, respite residents can stay with us from two weeks to a longer period of time, depending on their needs and room availability. Residents receiving the government subsidy are eligible to take 63 respite care days each financial year, which can be extended by three weeks if approved by ACAT.
Our friendly care staff can discuss the length of stay during your initial meeting to make sure the resident’s needs are fully catered for.
